I trust the users that use my pc but sometimes its best to setup a guest account. My pc has years worth of photos and personal data, it also has the bank account details for over 100 clients which I have worked for over the past two years. There’s a lot of information that needs to remain confidential and to help this I have created a Guest account, I use the guest account as my normal account and when I require certain bits of data I login to my main account, I also let whoever uses my pc use the Guest account.

You can setup as many accounts on your pc as you like, if its a family pc then you can setup login accounts for all users. To create an account you simply go to your start button, look for an option that says settings and then look for an option called control panel. Once control panel has loaded you will be presented with a whole list of options, most of these are useful so I’ll cover them in an upcoming article, but the option on this screen that we are looking for is called user accounts. If you click user accounts it will show you the accounts already on your pc, most pc’s will already have one account and that is the main admin account. There will be an option on ths screen to add a user, it will guide you through a setup wizard asking you to provide several bits of info. You need to give the account a name, on my pc I have called it Visitor but you can call it anything you like. It then gives you the option of setting a password, just for added security I added the password Visitor. If it asks you anything about assigning admin permission to this account say no, this is a guest account, whatever the guest is doing they should never require admin access.

You can create as many accounts as you like so if you have five members in your family then each user can have there own login account. You can also set each user a specific section of your hard drive, you can also create shared folders which can be shared by each of the users on that pc. There’s a lot you can do and I’ll try add it to the list of articles to write in the future and try and teach you a bit more.

Sometimes for whatever reason there maybe a time where you need to hide your IP and surf sites in privacy. This is common practice amongst hackers or online users getting up to no good. There’s not really much you can do to hide your IP because even the smartest of hackers eventually get caught. However if your not breaking any laws or committing any felonies then the chances are you will be able to surf in privacy using whats available to you today undetected. Its only when an online attack has happened is when they start tracing IPs and users trying to hide there IPs.

There’s two ways you can hide you IP and you can use both these methods together to make it harder for you to be found. I’m not sure about all Internet browsers but Mozilla Firefox has a proxy settings option within there tools section. You can enter an IP address of a proxy server which masks your IP and tries to make out you are using another IP. You can find out a lot about a user from just there IP, you can find out what country they are in, what city they are from, who provides there Internet, what device they are using and if you have contacts in the right places then you can get a residential address. But everything including the last part can be found out by yourself.

So if we use the proxy setting in Firefox then it will change our IP and make out we are from Russia as well as changing the rest of our details. You can then visit a proxy site like “hidemyarse” as well to make searches and visit sites which again will also mask and change your IP. If you use both these methods then it becomes harder to trace.

I’m not going to teach users how to find out an IP and then how to trace it back to a person or location as that information will get abused. But if you have owned a popular website or two then you will know all about tracing IP’s. One of the biggest problems about owning a popular site is the continuous attacks day in and day out from anonymous users trying to hack your site and bring it down. I learnt a lot about security from running sites like Ragingmortals and Pin2ping, I’m able to trace back IP’s past proxy servers and back to there original location.

The only users I cant trace are the ones that buy purpose built equipment that connects to there home network and is a million times more sophisticated than a proxy server. But if you don’t have access to the specific equipment then all we have available is proxy sites and proxy settings in our browser.

Firefox also has a built in privacy feature but from tests it doesn’t hide your details from the websites your are visiting so don’t rely on that. If you want to find a proxy IP or proxy site then just google those terms and thousands of results will appear. Most proxy servers have been found out so there IP addresses are already listed in many databases as proxy addresses making it easy for website owners to research there visitors.

IP addresses from mobile phones are becoming harder to trace, I just tested my iPhone on this site and without going through a proxy server, it told me I was in Ireland. The problem with mobile phones is they use local satellites and servers, on a normal day my iPhone IP address should have been from a London based IP. Sometimes the mobile phone providers receive a lot of traffic so what they do is balance out there load by redirecting users through different servers. This is to maximise speed for the user and to stop there servers from overloading and crashing. At the time of connecting to my site the server based in Ireland must have been the only available connection for me at the time.

I just connected to my site again and it used a different IP 79.125.4.70, if you try to trace this IP back it says its based in Ireland and supplied by Amazon. This tells me that O2 and Amazon are in business together in some way or another as Amazon allow O2 to use there servers. It also supplied me with this string of information Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_1_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9B206 Safari/7534.48.3, this is basic information without snooping to deep. From this string of data you can see I was using my iPhone and using the web browser Safari. You can also see other data, see if you can work out what it means. I have removed some info from this string of data as it provides you with a bit to much detail about my phone and I’d rather keep that secret.

Don’t be worried if someone knows your IP, I remember a few years back there was this hype about people being worried that if someone found out there IP address then they could be hacked. I’m not going to go into detail now and may cover this at a later date but you cant be hacked, yes there is a very slim chance that maybe they could connect to your pc but seriously its pretty much impossible nowadays. If you get your Internet from Sky, BT, Virgin Media then they use submasks which means they share one of there local IPs and not your pc’s IP. So if someone tried to trace you they would get Sky’s datacentre and it will be local to where you live but not actually where you live, i.e your house or work address. That’s why I mentioned earlier that its always good to make contacts and know people because someone at Sky would be able to trace your connection through there datacentre and supply you with the users network IP address. If the user doesn’t use a network then it will be there pc’s IP address. Anyway like I said I’ll try and cover this topic in detail later on but to conclude, you cant be hacked from and IP address so don’t worry.

Sorry for the poor writing styles of the last two articles, it is 2am here and I am a little tired. I find that this is the only time my brain relaxes and allows me to concentrate on blogging. The human body and mind can work in weird ways, anyway goodnight everyone and where ever you are stay safe, oh and more importantly follow me on instagram @MiksMe

Instagram is a photo sharing application which works across platforms and not just the iPhone. At the moment it is limited to what phone you have but as Facebook has now bought Instagram its a matter of time before they release it across all devices.

Some have referred to Instagram as the Twitter of photo sharing. You get to create an account and build up followers, you can also follow other users that interest you.

If you have Instagram then why not come and follow me, I try to keep my pictures as interesting as possible and try to post atleast one of two a day. At the moment I have around 18,000 followers also know as “Team Miks” lol sorry I have been watching a bit to much of The Voice lately, but if you follow me I will follow you back.

Facebook has over 900 million members and holds personal information about each and every one. Pretty much everyone who reads this post and everyone that you know has a Facebook account, this is one of the main reasons Facebook gets abused so much. Its the largest social network ever and the chances are the majority of your friends and family will be on it with you. Several years back Facebook was easily hackable, you could gain access to pretty much any account just by knowing what there email address is. The times have changed and Facebook has now covered up these loopholes in there security, which doesnt mean its air tight yet.

Imagines what a marketing company could do if they got access to all this information, everyone would be specifically targeted with specific products, it would be a marketing companies dream. People also hack into other users account to get revenge or payback, a well known example is a jealous ex boyfriend getting his own back on his previous partner. You hear about it all the time in the news, peoples lives can be ruined becuase of what gets posted on there Facebook account. This is why I want to show you how you can secure your account to the highest level and prevent any unwanted visitors. I’m not fussed about my Facebook account to be honest, if it gets hacked it gets hacked, its not the end of the world.

The first option in our arsenal secures your data and what you do whilst logged into facebook, it prevents third party companies or hackers accessing what you do whilst online. Facebook released there HTTPS feature several months back, in simple terms in turns your connection with Facebook into a secure connection. The data and information passed between your computer and Facebook gets encrypted so if anyone tries to access your session or data they cant.

The second and most obvious security feature is you, don’t ever leave your Facebook account logged in and dont ever share your password. Lots of people make this mistake all the time, they login to a pc which isn’t there own and walk away leaving there facebook account logged in. You cant just click the x in the top right of your browser to close Facebook, you actually have to logout as well. If you don’t logout then as soon as the next user opens up Facebook it will automatically be logged into your account.

The third way to secure your account is by using harder password recovery questions, or even setting up your mobile to receive your new password. If you ever forget your password and need it reset you can get it sent to a specific mobile device making it near impossible for anyone to reset your password with you knowing or without your phone.

The fourth security feature notifys you by email or text when someone logs into your account. It provides basic information about the person logging in but to find out more visit your active sessions in your security section. To have this feature enabled you need to also enable the registered device feature which means you have to register each pc and mobile with facebook. Any unauthorised access will show up from non-registered devices.

If you implement all these security features then your account will be secured to the highest level.

Every Facebook account is being transferred over to the new timeline feature, as and when this happens your privacy settings may change. If you have noticed your account has been switched over to the new timeline feature then it wont hurt you to take a look at your account settings. Each and every Facebook account will switch over to the new timeline at some point.

As the Internet evolves so does the technology and let me tell you there are some very smart webmasters out there. Every webmaster like myself always wants to create one of the latest buzzes or trends so this alone is enough to motivate webmasters and keep them pumping out cool and new websites/services all the time. One of the enjoyments is the Internet never stands still, someone somewhere around the world is working on the latest crave. As long as the Internet is around you’ll never have to pay for another single or album again. The guys over at video2mp3 have created a very sophisticated converter and its 100% free.

You dont need to download any software, the whole conversion process takes place through there webserver and is very quick. All you need to do is visit YouTube, find a song that you like and copy the Youtube url. You then place the url in the relevant field on video2mp3‘s website and it will convert the video into an audio format.

I have used there services numerous times and find it very reliable. Once you have downloaded your track you can then do what you normally do and burn it to a CD or copy it to your iPod. If you want to download albums on the other hand then you need to use a torrent site and torrent downloader, I will cover this in a later article.

Note – There are a lot of websites similar to video2mp3 but we only suggest using them if you have been recommended by a friend. The majority of these sites embed spyware with each download however video2mp3 have come back clean after numerous tests. If you think you have spyware on your pc then download “Spybot Search and Destroy” or “Ad-Aware” by Lavasoft, both these are free and work wonders in maintaining your pc from malicious attacks. I’ll also write a post about how you can protect your pc to the highest level using a suite of tools put together by myself for free.

My main skills revolve around programming, website development, promotion, marketing, design, app development, IT systems, secuirty and various other bits and pieces. I like to take risks and be at the forefront of innovative website development breakthroughs. If you want to make it big online then you always need to stay up to date, if not one step ahead. The thing about me is I dont mind sharing my knowledge and experiences with others, I enjoy helping people and watching them succeed.

Over the years I have created quite a few successful websites, my very first successful website was called Ragingmortals.com. That’s where I learned the bulk of my programming and secuirty skills, the site was a free site and aimed mainly at teenagers. It was a browser based game which was 100% free except for special packages available, these were packages that would help the user develop there player quicker. I was 16 when I started this site and ran it for around 3 years before using the skills I had acquired to move on to bigger things. I created a lucrative Seo company called Adsitecentral.com which took off extremely well. It was a one man business but produced more than enough income, at the time I also had a day job so my monthly turnover was pretty good. I never had the bottle to give up the security of my day job so after a year I had burnt out and sold the site. I then took a couple months off to rest and decided to create a second Seo company but not make the same mistakes again. When you sell a website always sell it based on 12 months income minimum. I have always been very succesful selling sites through flipper.com. The second site produced a good amount of income but not as much as the first site so again it happened all over again, I burnt out sold the site and took some time off. The second site was called directorysubmissions.eu.

I know several .com millionaires so my motivation has always been there along with the help and advice needed. After selling my second Seo site I created a social network with a unique twist. The social network was aimed specifically and Blackberry messenger users, it gave them a safe and secure place to swap there pins and find local contacts to chat to. The site soon reached the number one spot in google and grew at a stupidly fast rate. I ran the site for around 15 months and then sold it on. The site is still running and the new owner is doing extremely well with it, its called pin2ping.com.

I can never hold on to a site longer than 15 months, I always get bored and want to move on. Whilst running these site I had other side projects, at one point I had around 120 active sites all running and all making money.

I have decided to create another innovative and unique site based around the Kik messenger, its more of a project at the moment but if the demand is there I will develop it into a full blown site. I also have several other sites being released over the next week, I don’t want to give to much away but one of them is a car raffle site. Users buy tickets into a raffle where they can win a brand new car, its not a scam and 100% legit. Its also been the most complicated one to set up…..Well saying that I do have a couple of other issues with another business.

I will always create projects and sell them after a year or so but I have recently come up with a business idea which I am going to turn into a life time business. It will be the sole producer of my main income and has the potential to make me a mill or two. I always come up with new ideas for websites every week, the good thing about having the skills I do is you can do all the work for free. All you need to pay for is a domain name from godaddy.com which will only cost you £7.

One piece of advise I’ll leave you with is learn how to create websites. Its not hard and at most will take you a year or two max! Imagine the Internet as one big shopping centre, each country has access to it and is on it 24/7, its the most busiest place on earth (well not on earth as such but you know what I mean). If you want to sell something or make money the Internet is the most obvious place to be.

Anyway get used to my spelling and grammar mistakes, it gets worse from here on in……and yes that is possible!!
