Some people like their content crawled and indexed as soon as possible after publication. This is so they can start appearing in the searching engines quicker, appear in blog engines, news sites, and many other reasons.
If you have a new website or blog and want a hand getting it crawled by all the various services out there, then ping some update services. Its a lot quicker and easier then posting links manually to multiple popular sites that get crawled daily.
If you use a good blogging platform like WordPress, you might already have an automatic ping service ready to be used. In the WordPress admin area you need to go to Settings > Writing, and then scroll to the bottom. There will be a box called Update Services, you can copy and paste the below list of pingable update services into this box and click Save.
Remember, each time you update a blog post or publish a new one, your WordPress site will ping the below services. You don’t need to ping these services for every update you do, too much pinging can get your site added to their blacklists. Only use them as and when you need them.
